Thank you very much for posting these, Rob. The fine line between modelling and model engineering, particularly in the larger railway scales, becomes rather blurry at times, but, there are some fabulous examples of both here. Sadly, Lowestoft is a shadow of its former self. I spent my early childhood very close to Lowestoft in Oulton Broad, in the days when it was a great fishing port, and have fond memories of visiting the original Hannants model shop in the High Street. I remember they had a Hornby Dublo model railway in their window display that worked when you put a penny in the slot!
Indeed, George, perhaps the old place has lost some of its shine. Hannants you are probably aware is in an industrial unit now, but still operating in the town. I have to say the weekend visit was the first time I've been to Lowestoft in years, but it was good to see so much energy in evidence at the show. It takes a lot to organise something like that, particularly in respect of the specialist nature of the event, and it was good to see so many young families in attendance.
