The Dakota is looking great Aldo - The detail in those decals is unbelievable for 1/72nd! Hopefully you make it to TorCan - Cheers

    Looks great Aldo.

Airfix didn't go wild with the stencils in their kit.

Thanks for the comments on mine gents.

If Aldo doesn't mind me filling you all in a little...

Mine is done as KK138 of 1PTS,RAF Ringway(now Manchester International here in UK)then Upper Heyford when they moved there. The back story is that she'd been on a practice drop and come back with a fair oil leak on the stb'd engine from one of the oil cooler pipes(it had just been replaced along with the prop on that side)hence the pretty grubby stb'd engine nacelle. The fitters had attended to the leak on the pan and were topping up the oil whilst on the other side the parachute section are collecting the static lines from the jump in their Bedford 15cwt truck.

The yellow topped Matador tanker has called to top up the aircraft's tanks, but the oil bowser is still there,so the tanker crew have nipped off to the very far side of the pan with the oil bowser driver for a crafty cigarette before "Chiefy" cycles up to see what's going on.

Here's one for you Aldo: Note the two oil leaks below the cockpit above the DF loop teardrop on both sides?
That was the access panel for the rudder pedals and other control runs, they were very copiously oiled on both sides(Captain and Co-Pilot's controls),consequently it was very common for the oil to drip onto the panels and leak through the panel seams on ALL Daks/C47's

Thanks to all who are following for hanging in there. The bird is almost complete. Got back from my canoe trip and spent the evening before TorCan applying panel post shading and weathering with q-tips and ground up artists' chalk pastels and a bit of silver pencil, air-brushing exhaust stains, and applying decals for the gun-ports in the cabin windows (a cool feature of the plane and the kit).

Still need to add minor bits to the landing gear, prop decals, and open up the doors, but this is basically how the plane looked at TorCan.

By the way, I have a second set of the decal set for Canucks Unlimited "Z" if any of you are interested.

    Cheers.
