A bit more progress on my RCAF Mossie here at the workshop this weekend. I have the Tamiya kit pretty much assembled and just finished masking off the canopy… Moving towards the paint stage by next week if all goes according to plan. Hope you are having a good weekend.

    Some very good progress @flypastrush
Did you create those masks yourself?

I've got the old Airfix NF30 in the stash... now I'm getting the urge to pull it out...

    Very cool- great progress.
I missed the boat back when Tamiya was still selling this kit of this Mosquito variant. Wish I had snagged one way back, or at least could get sprue K and use it on a standard fighter boxing.
I have a Tamiya and an Airfix kit ongoing, been in the mix for at least 6 years so far! You are motivating me to finally get them done- maybe by Christmas break...

What is the tape you are using to mask the canopy? I can see an advantage to clear tape - you could maybe see the framing.

Looking forward to the finished product.

Made it to the paint shop tonight with the Mossie and had the crew lay down the base coat of white for the D-Day stripes, as well as hit the canopy and the prop tips with some colour - It’s a step forward at least

Good start on the paint. You passed the first big hurdle by remembering to paint the interior color on the canopy (I forget about half the time). Good luck on the invasion stripes.

I am currently utilizing a Polyimide tape on my model canopies as it has excellent flexibility as well as (temporary) glue properties. It typically produces a clean edge without bleed-through, if you keep your spray light and don't soak the area. I will use it for any straight edge masking as its performance beats any other masking tape I have found. (The tape is typically used in electronics as it is chemical & heat resistant with a silicone adhesive.) (@johnb) (@aldog)

Are you doing anything about the engines? The NF XXX had the 2 stage Merlin engines with the intake under the spinner. Those are available as resin replacements from Brengun designed to fit the Tamiya kit.

Thanks for the info regarding the tape.

    Colin, (@tail-dragon)
Thanks for that information, however I changed aircraft types and forgot to change the title of the build. I am actually building a model a NF Mk 30 Mosquito that served with RCAF 410 Squadron. (I will keep that conversion set in mind for the future though.)

Personally, I think the brengun twin stage Merlins are the best for accuracy out of all the replacement/aftermarket twin stage parts! I am using a pair on my Airfix kit.

Got the D-Day Invasion stripes painted on, masked off and then moved along to getting the Med.Sea Gray base on… touched up and curing before I go for the RAF Dark Green camouflage
