Looking good, @flypastrush. It is always fun to get into the painting part of the model, and then the decals.

Topside camouflage on my DH Mosquito NF painted. Moving it along tonight with the RAF Dark Green coat including some paint stage weathering added in for wear n tear✌🏻

    Upper camouflage starts nicely, @flypastrush
How did you keep those masks in place?

Thanks John (@johnb) The paper masks (provided in the Tamiya kit as scale paint guides) were tacked down as necessary with Blu-Tac, however I have had some staining problems with this method, where the Blu-Tac slightly darkens the paint where it is applied. I minimized the time the Blu-Tac was in place this time, however still had an issue... so maybe not recommended... unless you just place the Blu-Tac along panel lines you want darkened... then it may do the trick. Better to find a tack-down product that doesn't affect the paint. - Cheers

Great looking camo. Prior to using blue-tac I used to roll masking tape under the paper masks and tape them on the plane so that the edges remained a millimetre or so off the plastic. This will give a feathered edge as well, depending how high the paper sits.

Can't wait to see the end product.

@flypastrush - The NF30 and the NF XXX are the same airplane. The only "bull nose" Mossie you can make from the kit is a NF XVII or a NF XIX.

Mother of Pearl, I thought I ad done my homework here, as I had a nice shot of the pilot Walter Dinsdale in front of "his" Mosquito NF Mk.XIII (which you can also construct from this Tamiya kit). Along with that photo, I had a profile of his aircraft with D-Day stripes, however I failed to notice that this aircraft was a different type (a Mk.XXX). :0

This was after hours of initially trying to chase down a 409 Sqn. Mosquito Letter code that I had a great refence photo of in D-Day stripes and knew the serial number was MM512 but couldn't determine the letter code. (So I had t abandon that replica project.)

So now, after some (more careful research) I will switch aircraft to one I believe is a suitable candidate: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito NF Mk XIII HK476 RA-O (Also Crewed by Dinsdale & Dunn)

    • The Devil is in the Details!
(Thanks for the corrections here - before I finished the kit) - Cheers

Getting glossy on the DH Mosquito XIII NF. Moving this build along by cobbling together the Squadron codes and serial numbers from spares and letter chop up and reform, with pretty decent results ✌🏻
