Sorry, not a WIP but may be of interest.
Revel 1:72 B1 special Op Chastise with upkeep mine.
The kit needs a lot of work but basically goes together quite nicely...for me anyway as it was basically free.
Unfortunately they based the rear of the bomb bay (which didn't fit until I cut the centre section away to expose the original bomb bay roof as it would have been) on the grand slam aircraft.
The radiator intakes by all accounts are the larger tropical ones and the dihedral is circa 3 rather than the near 7 degrees.
I did a lot of scratch building but did use an eduard panel.
After a lot of poking about online and chatting with bods I fitted the downward altitude lamps in the front where the camera would have been. The second was more difficult but looking at some fairly credible publications the second was located in the ventral gun turret. Apparently the lower guns were removed (at that height not much would attack below that would get past the rear gunner) and the rear lamp located in its place. Apparently this location was referred to directly by Gibson in an interview and makes sense. The bomb bay roof is a complex reinforced structure that was fared fore and aft with an original roof section for the release mech. To fit the lamp in the rear fairing would require cutting away the bomb bay roof, more so if you wanted adjustment in flight. Moving it rearward would have given the smaller angle required when they dropped the altitude for dropping upkeep and be easily adjustable for angle. Don't forget that this was a temporary role so the mods ideally needed to be minimal and reversible as the surviving aircraft went onto other duties.
I also used some resin gun barrels and wheels, and after market decals. Still an enjoyable build though. Hope yours all go well
