To be honest probably the best way to paint the main canopy is to polish (not dip) then carefully brush paint and carefully remove the surplus with a sharpened cocktail stick. It works remarkably well, particularly if you keep the paint thin.

Still solid progress, my friend @johnb! Even small steps keep the project going. Looking forward to your next steps!

@chrisballard, thanks for sharing your result, a nice looking Lancaster for sure.
@fiveten, thank you, Spiros. The 'far from perfect' fitting of some parts do hold me back a bit as well.

    No worries chap.

As regards the fit of the revel bomb bay, it didn't fit at all until I removed the centre section leaving the bomb bay roof exposed...which it should be.

The dihedral isn't very hard to sort if you want to. Saw through the wings TE/LE upper and lower and the upper wing and the width of the razor saw cut should be just enough to correct it...not sure if many bother to be honest and the kits all seem the same

If it helps anyone with the revel version, this was my fix for the bomb bay fairings.
The solution for the rear fairing wasn't my solution to be fair, but that of a significantly more talented modeller on britmodeller.

You basically build a frame or former profile with plastic card, then fill with isopon 2 part and grind until the white of the card shows uniformly...

Again if it helps, correcting the dihedral. I hadn't considered this until I started reading then karked myself...but its actually easier than you think particularly as the cut line is effectively marked just outboard of the inner engine. By rights I suppose you should correct the "hang" of the outers but the few who did this didn't seem to think it notices...neither do I. Not sure why so many manufacturers miss it but chances are they used the same references (or moulds).

If you don't cut through the TE and LE they will distort, then fill the lower chordwise cut with plastic card (thin, trial and error) and weld with tamiya extra thin. Easier than I expected and there are various descriptions online

Pleasure, I had to look for them and to be honest I wasn't going to build bombers but I couldn't help itπŸ™„πŸ˜‚. Possibly the hardest was the rads and they are still too big. A friend who really knows about these things suggested that many companies used the Lanc at Hendon (?) which he suggested retired in India with tropical rads so... Another odd one was the bomb markings. Some have some very odd coloured rings, you don't see them in the few images available. I believe they used torpex which I believe would have had a specific marking but did it matter? It was on a one way trip and them that needed to know...did.

Not sure if this will work but if you can stay awake this gent has put a lot of effort into.putting various APs into video. Loads of lanc stuff

Did my head in but the series shows you an awful lot about the interior layout etc. Just be aware that I think...he is looking at a later model so things like the pitot and trailing antenna positions might differ J.

After being away from the bench way too long, I was finally able to spent some time on the Lancaster.
Due to severe household constructions I had to clean most of the in progress parts from dust.
The inner engine units are finished although a bit of cleaning is still required .
