The aftermarket set I have is supposed to work on the Revell kit as well.

    It does, but with modifications.

The PE frame where the seat will be mounted on is lower than the ones provided by the kit, therefore I raised the floor a bit with a piece of a plastic card.

The back of the instrument panel does also not match the original dimensions from the kit parts. I will be using the original panel of which I removed the instrumentation. This is mounted on the back of the new instrumentation panel. Still a lot of touch-up required to make it look like one piece.

Not what I expected from this AM set.

It is not unusual to fond oneself struggling with aftermarket that it is supposed to fit "without modification", my friend @johnb...
Still, you have done a superb job adapting the AM to your build!

Everyone's build looks great. I don't know why I keep missing this thread, but after building my B-17, it is cool to see others working their way through these complex builds.

After all day work anti glare pannels are ready to masking. I have some problems with astro-navigation turret. I don't like how it fits. And after first coat of OD i decided to correct fitting by white glue and sanding. Because of it I have a few grey hair more. But I think finally effect is quite good. This is not good part from Airfix kit. Fitting could be better.

Hello gents @lis, @johnb, @davekight, @fiveten, I am really amazed about your works, your progresses are fantastic! I was planning to start the 'Belle', do you mind if I join your group? It will be the 1/72 from Revell OOB.

Looks great, Bernard (@lis). I have never built a B-17 where the astrodome fit correctly. It is always a process of "massaging" the clear piece into place, sometimes with a little sanding, and sometimes with a whack from a hammer (Just kidding, but we have all thought about it). :o)

@lis, progressing nicely, Bernard. For sure you will get this astrodome look right.
