I wound up with the old Hasegawa reissue of their 1970 something B-17F with Aero Master "My Devotion" decals. I bought a bunch of aftermarket goodies to dress her up and joined up with Hyperscale's 1/72 group build page for a B-17 group build there. I'm nearly done and figured I'd post my progress here. I have a few of the Academy F model kits (I know to shim up the wings for the dihedral issue) and probably should have used the Aero Master decals on it instead, since "My Devotion" had modifications later B-17Fs that Boeing added to them on the production line and I had the graft onto the Hasegawa kit. The aftermarket stuff was made to fit onto newer kits, making the tough to fit on the old Hasegawa one. I had bought a newer white glue type canopy glue and tried it out, it shrunk horribly but I'm determined to finish her up anyway.

For it's worth, here's "My Devotion:"

    Unpacking the Memphis Belle.

When opening the box I remembered that I bought this kit including masks and resin/PE sets for the seats and intrumentpanel.

There are 9 sprues in total of which 1 is transparant. In total this kit consists of 235 parts.

Decals are provided to build it as The Shamrock Special or the Memphis Belle.

The instructions are in black and white but are nicely detailed.

Painting instructions are clear as well.

The camouflage of the original Memphis Belle clearly shows green areas over the oloive drab.

In Duxford, the Memphis Belle (look-a-like) did have a uniform OD camouflage and the inner starboard cowl did have a yellow/black checkerboard marking.

Since my idea is to build the "Memphis Belle" as a remembrance of our visit to Duxford, I'm tending to use that scheme instead of the original one.

@fiveten, @lis, thanks, I'm eager to start with it.

In the mean time, after some searching on the net, the Fortress at Duxford is the "Sally B" and seem to have been used as one of the B17's in the Memphis Belle movie. Even in one scene it was used to replicate the original Memphis Belle. This is the reason that on one side the nose art still shows the Memphis Belle.

Since my idea was to build the "Sally B", I started a search on the internet to get the correct decals for it.
Can find them but including the shipping they are around $20, which is a bit too much. Did have a search during my visit at the World Model Expo but could only find them in 1/144.
I would like to ask if someone might have these "Sally B" decals as a left over and would like to sell them to me. Just sent me a PM. Thanks.
