At this build I try to mask deicing boots before painting, because some of them are to close to fuselage so masking finished painted model could be difficult.

After some corrections and polishing Tamiya Polishing Compound. my paint splattered again. this time the gray undercoat and the starboard aft of the fuselage and the fin have a pair of gray dots. I count that subsequent layers of paint undercoat will mask it.

From the picture it looks like they will likely be masked as you mentioned, Bernard @lis
    Great progress.

Looks great, Bernard (@lis). I came to the same conclusion about painting the de-icing boots first, and then masking them off when you paint the rest of the plane. Some of the boots are too close to the engines to insure a good masking job. Pre-shading looks good.

@gblair @fiveten @johnb This has its negative sides because the tape, even though Tamiya sometimes likes to peel off here and there. I am curious about the final effect. In the meantime, I'm trying to work with a new thing. 3D prints made by a friend from the club. They are supposed to make the diorama more attractive.

Indeed, 3D printing offers numerous possibilities in modeling, my friend @lis!
    Looking great!

@gblair @fiveten @johnb Today I Also worked with dorsal turret. A lot of small parts as ammo boxes, viewfinder, ammunition belts, of course twin 50 cal machine guns with stand. Barrels of machine guns has very good shape and cooling holes. I’m worry about how glazing fits into this parts.

Well done, Bernard (@lis). I always have trouble getting the gun to look realistic, but yours came out great. The clear parts for the turrets can sometimes be an issue, but usually fit fine. If I an, I paint the guns and interior parts, then paint the turret separately, then bring them together. I try not to add the completed turret until the painting on the plane is completed. If I need to add the turret before the plane is painted, I usually end up breaking one or more of the barrels. 3D printing is getting more and more detailed. Your 3D parts look very detailed and will work fine.

@gblair @fiveten @johnb with some wash ammo belts are more realistic I think.

I build Turrets similar as You George. If it is possible I fits it on the end of work to avoid breaking barrels.
PS. Did You hear about B-17 crash during airshow?

Yes, the Dallas airshow was a disaster...
Precious lives and precious planes gone...

Sometime I think that it is to dangerous to use such valulable historical planes for airshow flying. To dangerous for crew and planes.

    Hi, Bernard (@lis):
Yes, I saw some video of the collision this morning. It was in Dallas which isn't too far from here. Very sad for the people that were lost.
