The grays onto the spine and fin are, I believe, kind of dielectric or so areas. for the rear "bumper" gray, am not very sure why (maybe it is also a cover?). The rudder will become blue, white and red.

Painting the tricolor will be a pain, but it is always worth it, Spiros (@fiveten). I think I have a photo of a Vautour from my early copilot days in C-141s. At the time I didn't know what it was, but it looked cool.

This looks very good so far. I know what you mean about painting French rudders... done it recently on my P-39 - matching the pale blue/grey to the decals was an absolute pain !

You're definitely a braver man than I, going for a NMF finish on this monster (the good thing about a camouflage scheme is it camouflages things). This is looking really excellent.
