    Today I got hold of a book on the 109 in Finnish service titled MERSU. It is a rather expensive, and contains only Finnish words - no english summary or captions.

    My finnish is not at all good - in fact it is non-existing, but being a 109aholic I had to have the book. From what I can see, it is a lot of information on the men that flew the machines, but with large photos of the men - and the machines!

    There is however such a lot of pictures that it is reccomendable to anyone who wants some background for the colors of a finnish 109 for a build. Perhaps some online translation of the captions will be helpful, I have not tried it yet.

    Anyway - it is expensive, and in a language most would not understand, and that should deter most people from buying it, but if in need of anything 109, it is a must.

    I bought mine at my local bookstore, that got it from Finland. That way I probably paid a bit more than I could if buying it online, but I like to have local specialist stores - all the hobbyshops with plastic kits in my area are gone, and if I can help the old bookstore to keep going then I am OK with paying a little extra.

    The cover;

    @airbum ... it seems like most of the books I buy now days are the type that are mostly photographs & captions. I’ve gotten a few that are just color photographs of Korean War era airplanes ... makes for interesting viewing.

    Jay (@ssgt), it is always nice for a modeler to have some glossy paper with pictures 🙂
    Surely there is a market for the textfilled books, just not something I look for I have to admit. Please do share some of your titles if you feel like it.

    Seeing the article title, I knew it would be you, my friend @airbum.
    This book looks lovely to the eyes of any affectionate modeler.
    Thanks for sharing it here.
    Thanks to your passion, I am tempted to post a small note on the great (sadly, in Greek only...) book about the Hellenic Wings at the Korean War...and I might do so the following days.
    Keep up, 109 man!

    @airbum ,

    These 3 books have excellent color photographs.

    The yellow cover book has B&W photographs taken during the war. many of 109s, as well as color illustrations . On the back it says it was printed in the Slovak Republik. It has English & Slovak captions.

    Looks like a great book despite the language issue. For translating captions I use the Google Translate App but I use the camera option instead of the scanner which is a lot quicker

    Spiros (@fiveten), any book in any language is interesting, as long as there is aircraft in them 🙂

    Jay (@ssgt), that is a nice Korea collection you have there - and of course I note the Letka 13 book - I will have to look that one up online to see if any are for sale - looks like there are some nice new 109 colors for me in that one 😉

    George (@blackadder57), it is a very heavy book, and lots of large format pictures. Amongst them there are some of a 109 with a venturi-tube post war. That is a nice little addition to any 109aholics sollection. Sadly I am a dinosaur when it comes to phones, and I hold on to my very old one as long as possible (it has been with my brother on the Paris-Dakar race on a bike!)
