Hey Look Ma, I Got My Wings!

The resin Red Roo tropical cowls are not glued in place but I am impressed with the fit.

    Cowls and Engines Installed
Moving kind of slowly here as I am working on another build simultaneously that distracts me from this. The resin cowls and engines are installed. I was going to install them after painting but the cowls need a bit of filler and some minor modification to get a proper fit.

A problem that I just encountered is that I am having difficulty getting the paint to stick to this white resin. I first sprayed the inside of the cowls and nacelles with Alclad lacquer primer but that totally peeled off. Then I sprayed the area again with MM acrylic zinc chromate with no primer and had the same result. After a good soaking in sudsy ammonia, I tried a third time but switched to Vallejo acrylic and so far so good. I am worried about the exterior of the resin nacelles. I am afraid to do any masking in that area as I don't want to risk the paint pulling up, as I am sure it will. Paint shop is next.

I’m sad for only now catching up your A-20 WIP Eric
Gotta say it’s one complete and comprehensive study of the early versions of the plane you’re presenting along with some really good model making, full of hints and some tricks. Well done sir, going to follow along until it’s complete

    Looking very nice, Eric @eb801
Had the same experience with painting resin parts.
After polishing with fine waterproof sandpaper, it did work much better to get them painted.

@holzhamer, @johnb, @tcinla, and @fiveten - hey thanks for the input and encouragement fellow modelers! At the moment I am giving this Boston a coat of primer since I am working with different colors of styrene and resin. Also easier to find my mistakes and make corrections. I will be using rolled up "worms" for masking the North Africa desert camo using Vallejo middlestone and dark earth for the topside and azure blue for the undersides and early markings yet to be decided.

Those rolled up "worms" will produce nice demarcation lines, my friend @eb801!

    Onwards to the Paint Shop!
First I sprayed the canopies with Tamiya acrylic RAF dark green.

Then followed that up with Alclad II grey lacquer primer. Black preshading will be next.
