    Nice preperations, Eric @eb801
Those scheme can be done nicely with the aid of 'worms'.

    Paint Dept Time
Thanks for following along and the nice comments fellow modelers @tcinla, @johnb and @luftwaffe-birdman.
After getting sidetracked by that yellow Stearman I just posted in the headlines last week, I'm back on my Desert Air War project.

Paint Dept here I come, testing out some new preshading ideas. I painted the entire A-20 flat black for starters:

Then I decorated it with light grey squiggles after seeing TC use that technique on some of his latest olive drab desert paint jobs.

When that all dried I rolled up some removable poster adhesive putty into long worms and laid out the demarcation lines for the undersides that will be painted in shades of Azure blue. Off to the spray booth!

    Stay tuned!

    Great preperation, Eric @eb801
This will for sure create some nice shadings.

Wow! this looks to be a very promising painting technique, my friend @eb801!
    Looking forward to the outcome!

    The Paint Shop
Ok. Let the fun begin, starting with the undersides using Vallejo Air UK Azure Blue thinned an additional 25% (although Vallejo already is packaged thinned and ready to go but it does need a bit more). And by the way, I am taking my time with the painting and not banging this out.
Looks like my preshading idea worked but I don't know if one can tell by looking at these photos.

Next came the desert yellow camo using Vallejo Middlestone also thinned accordingly. Here's a couple of gnarly looking images:

    Next color: Dark Earth.

    Very nice airbrushing, Eric @eb801.
To me the effect is visible on the bottom surface. Maybe even more in real. It does look great.
I agree that the Vallejo Model Air needs to be thinned more, personally I use a ratio of nearly 1:0.8 (paint:thinner).
Without thinning my gun gets clogged easily.

Glad you're following along, John @johnb. I know what you mean about Vallejo drying out and clogging one's airbrush. I have found a couple of drops of paint retarder seems to help. Unfortunately the photos I uploaded backfired on me and I got a notice saying I made a "critical error" so I have no idea what I did wrong.

Love the paint job, my friend @eb801!
    The preshading was effective indeed!

@eb801, after creating my Vallejo mixture, I add a bit of 'flow improver', 1 drop per 10 of the mixture. Maybe that is a short of retarder as well. At least it does improve the painting process.

This is looking good Eric. Thanks for convincing me to stick with old reliable can't-mess-up Tamiya paint, using the old mixtures table.

TC @tcinla - I also like Tamiya acrylics and the correct thinning mixtures which I think after all these years I am getting close to dialing in, no small thanks to your suggestions. Vallejo works just as well for me, now that I have the learning curve down. It's Ammo MIG acrylics that give me fits and I don't want anything to do with them.

More Fun in the Paint Shop Cont'd...
More paint worms later, I am applying Vallejo Air RAF Dark Brown mixed with a bit of thinner. Note the results on the tail.
