Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I have a question regarding my next project. Is the pilot's seat in a Seafire FR47 made of bakelite or is it metal? I'm trying to figure out what color to paint it...cockpit will be black.

    Thanks in advance!

To my knowledge, all Spitfire seats were red/rust coloured bakelite. There is one flying Seafire, sadly damaged in a wheels up landing some time back. Maybe you could find a cockpit shot? A good site for Spitfire info is the "Spitfire Site" who would have thought it would be called that! 🙂 . They have some good reference material. Ah! The Spitfire, what can one say? Outrageously beautiful, and flies as good as it looks! Still need to get going on my 1/32 Tamia MkIX, when the time/motivation is right. What a kit. On the Spitfire site, a retired Greek Air Force A7 pilot, has built a model of a Spitfire MkIX, flown by Johnny Plagis, a Rhodesian, of Greek heritage/background. He has done an OUTSTANDING job on the model. Worth lookingt at.
