    Well a quick progress report.
The cockpit is nearly done, all bar a wash and varnish (satin).
Also the pilot is nearly done, with just a touch up here and there.
The engine needs the silver toned down so will give it a coat of Tamiya Smoke X19.

    Then the interesting bit!
Start drilling the holes for the rigging.
My very kind boss brought me a new mini drill with accessories as a thank you present so it will get a fair bit of use.

    Catch up later.

    Simon.

Lovely work so far Simon, but where is Rose's Spitfire?

    The rigging!
There are more holes to drill than a b****dy colander .
As or Rose`s Spitfire Seamus, she is getting there.
Just seat-belts to add to the cockpit then it can be buttoned up.
The Spitfire is probably going to finished first.
    We will see.

    Well more progress.
Pilot in place, minus feet ( I am not sure but I think Airfix made a boo boo here).
With the feet attached he sat to proud, either that or he had a bad case of piles...
The instrument panel was so so, 4 decals and decal soft.

    The wings were fun.
44 holes drilled by hand, they give you a rigging plan but there are no markings on where to drill so I drill to the appropriate locations.

All that is left to do now is fix the cockpit into the fuselage, the holes have been already drilled in the tail fin. Then add the canard? struts etc.

The tail plane can be drilled later so can he holes for the rigging up the front end.

    See you soon I hope.

Moving right along Simon. It's a pain, but when you start rigging, especially working in 1/72d scale, it's time well spent. Just be glad it's not a 1/72d Gun Bus... Yikes.. Lol
You pilot didn't hadn't to transfer over from Neil's Rescue Boat did he? That could explain a lot... 🙂

Yes Rick, moving in the right direction.
The pilot was not one of the best I will admit but it fills the gap.
A bit of a bummer but how else could I get the little man to fit?

As you can see, she is coming along well now.
Will leave it to set overnight before fixing the rest of the bits on which is not many.

The rigging will be fun but hey as you said it could be worse.

I ran into similar pilot issues on the 1/72nd Airfix Typhoon when I built it. Had to wallow him out between the legs (ouch) & even then the stick had to be cut loose & fed down from above.
You're making good progress on this one.

Looks like the fuselage bits went together very well. Just remember not to cut that X brace out of the inter-plane struts till everything's glued up nice and solid. I wish a certain New Zealand based company would add that simple feature to their kits, sure would make them easier to build. But I digress..lol
Pictures of the Lady Rose's Spitfire?
    Cheers and gone. 🙂

Well as promised a quick update.
    Rose`s Spitfire.
Fuselage glued together a bit of a mess to clean up but nothing too major.
The cockpit assembly ready and painted to fix into the fuselage later.
The head rest is a piece of plastic I found. The carpet monster ate the original one.
The wings are ready as well awaiting the fuselage.
    So is the U/C.

As for the Glad just the wing struts glued into place and the U/C added as well.
The struts are quite a nice fit with a positive feel to it.
This is now going to be left over night to set.

Hope to get some more done tomorrow.

    Simon and Rose.

Cheers for the boost of confidence Neil.
I have got some 3 lb fishing line to do the rigging with.
This will be the first time that I have ever rigged a plane so it is going to be fun.
I have read up on a few articles to help me on my way.

I have got to that stage of a little fettling and masking before priming.
I am painting the upper wing separate as it it a damn site more easier than trying to mask around the structs.

Rose`s Spitfire has been cleaned up and now just needs a few bits added before priming as well.

    That`s all for now folks.

And yes folks, that is Biggles (Rose) in the pics.
