    Well update.
The Spitfire is now ready for priming.
Rose attached the canopy and windscreen, plus the engine panel and air intake, also the tail planes.
Canopy etc masked with Mr Neo.
The Gladiator has had the temporary braces cut out from the main structs and area cleaned up.
    Plus the windscreen masked.
I should of said that both canopies etc were painted before masking.
I found that paint does adhere to the area where after Mr Neo has been applied.

    Off to the paint-shop next.

Holy double take Batman, Rose's outfit is almost a dead match for my wife Karen's "comfie clothes"...lol
Everything is looking good on both kits, I'm betting they turn out great.

Simon, it looks like Rose and I are at about the same point in the Spitfire builds. Mine's on hold for now, but it's to spend time with the grandkids, so it's worth the wait. I'm on vacation next week and hope to finish her up then. Both of your birds are looking good, can't wait to see the finished models!

What is that "Mr. Neo" you mentioned? Don't think I've seen that here.

Hi Jaime, everything is worth putting on hold to spend time with the grand kids.

Mr Neo is a latex type masking medium.
It has it`s own applicator but I find using a tooth pick or similar better, especially on the smaller scale models. It prefers a gloss surface so I use it mainly for transparencies.
It peels off easily with care of course but it sometimes leaves an invisible residue which can make it a pain, so I have started to paint the canopies first before masking off .

Hope that is any good for you Jaime.
    Have a peaceful vacation

    Simon and Rose.

    Well a quick update.
Rose`s Spitfire has come along no end.
Now awaiting the Dark Green to finish off the main painting for hers.
She has done well on this , her third build ever.
She has done it all, with some hints and tips from me and I should add by everybody else.

The Gladiator is getting there, ready for the N.A.T.O Black to be sprayed.
I have also masked off the cooling vents on the fuselage, I am going to give those a quick blast too.
I will paint over them but hope that it acts like a bit of pre shading.

All in all it has been a good few days at the bench.
A couple of pics at the end shows what fun it has been...

    See you all soon.

Excellent progress you two. Nice airbrushing rig you have there. I see you are letting Rose have all the fun of cleaning the airbrush afterwards. 😉

Good on you both! Everything is coming along swimmingly and looks pretty spot on. I especially like Lady Biggles Tazmanian Devil tattoo!

Looks like your mini-RAF is coming along just fine, Simon. It's always good to be on the home stretch...

Cheers all, the air brush rig was the one by darling wife brought me.

Airbrush and compressor was about $170 U.S. and it has served well.

The booth was got the web for about $ 100 U.S. with delivery.

It folds up to the size of a brief case.

I did add a decent regulator which now holds the pressure steady at +/- 1 lb psi which helps.

Rose is slowly getting use to the rig and better still knowing how to clean it afterwards .

As for her Tattoo Seamus, she got that when she was with her first husband, a right tosser.

She has also got a baby devil holding a dummy on the other arm.

And yes, the mini RAF base here is going along smoothly, so far?

Off for a few days, so not much else for now.

    Hi peeps. another quick update.
Rose`s Spitfire has left the paint shop, and with the underwing radiator to fit on plus the air scoop, she will be ready for the gloss varnish.
So this will probably the last views of her until unveiling day.
The paints used are Tamiya XF 21, 52. 81, Sky, Dark Earth and Dark Green (RAF).

The Gladiator is coming along slowly, we have been away for a few days so just getting back in to the rhythm of things.

Well done Lady Rose, I'll be looking forward to seeing it finished. Now you can help Simon finish up the Gladiator. Or build another kit for the Group build. 🙂

Looks like you need to play a little catch up Simon. Do you two work side by side or take turns at the bench?

We have a pair of "Scooters " to finish off hidden under the bench, so once the Spitfire is done, Rose and I can hit those. Also we have got a pair of Tiger Moths to build in the near future.
We normally work side by side, with Rose peering over my shoulder to see what the next operation is.
This is why I am proud of her on this build because she has not my build to follow.
    I hopefully catch up soon.

Oh B****r, the curse of the decals has struck, while applying the main decal of the roundel and squadron marking it fell apart, Tamiya decals at their worse..
Oh well, have some spare markings lying around but it is going to need a touch in the paint shop first.

Never mind, on with the show.

Simon, thanks for the heads up, I have the same kit. As I don't have any spare 1/72 Spitfire decals I'll put a coat of Micro decal carrier liquid on them tonight.
Rose welcome to the big leagues of modeling, now you know why Simon saves all those spare decals lol. Pretty soon you'll have your own stash of spares too. 😉
