Well a quick progress report.
The cockpit is nearly done, all bar a wash and varnish (satin).
Also the pilot is nearly done, with just a touch up here and there.
The engine needs the silver toned down so will give it a coat of Tamiya Smoke X19.

Then the interesting bit!
Start drilling the holes for the rigging.
My very kind boss brought me a new mini drill with accessories as a thank you present so it will get a fair bit of use.

Lovely work so far Simon, but where is Rose's Spitfire?

Well more progress.
Pilot in place, minus feet ( I am not sure but I think Airfix made a boo boo here).
With the feet attached he sat to proud, either that or he had a bad case of piles...
The instrument panel was so so, 4 decals and decal soft.

The wings were fun.
44 holes drilled by hand, they give you a rigging plan but there are no markings on where to drill so I drill to the appropriate locations.

All that is left to do now is fix the cockpit into the fuselage, the holes have been already drilled in the tail fin. Then add the canard? struts etc.

The tail plane can be drilled later so can he holes for the rigging up the front end.

Yes Rick, moving in the right direction.
The pilot was not one of the best I will admit but it fills the gap.
A bit of a bummer but how else could I get the little man to fit?

As you can see, she is coming along well now.
Will leave it to set overnight before fixing the rest of the bits on which is not many.

The rigging will be fun but hey as you said it could be worse.

Looks like the fuselage bits went together very well. Just remember not to cut that X brace out of the inter-plane struts till everything's glued up nice and solid. I wish a certain New Zealand based company would add that simple feature to their kits, sure would make them easier to build. But I digress..lol

I have got some 3 lb fishing line to do the rigging with.
This will be the first time that I have ever rigged a plane so it is going to be fun.
I have read up on a few articles to help me on my way.

I have got to that stage of a little fettling and masking before priming.
I am painting the upper wing separate as it it a damn site more easier than trying to mask around the structs.

Rose`s Spitfire has been cleaned up and now just needs a few bits added before priming as well.
