Neil the "end" date for this GB is 31st October, I think!

"Progress" pics as promised. The pace things are moving this thing is gonna be jerrybuilt to get it finished in time. The internal painting posed as problem vis-a-vis gluing in the partitions so some of the demarcation lines are a bit wonky!

Some more progress pics, if anyone is interested? To be honest this has not been my "finest (modelling) hour", and this is not a kit i'd be in a hurry to repeat...Really this kit was produced as a background structure to support a "main" model subject, and is supplied as a shell. Any work put in to detailing the interior will disapear once floors/walls & glazing is installed. Looking in the windows - which took an age to do and was very tedious - you can see nothing. Suggestions to make the roof removable would involve something creative in respect of the "hand rails" around the perimeter, which i have also struggled with.

If nothing else this has been a learning curve for me, and in the future i'll leave real modelling to those of you with the appropriate skills set! , i'm definately just a kit constructor! Anyway here it is (so far) i'm hoping to be finished in time for 31st.

It looks better with every posting, Neil, I'm looking forward to seeing the Rescue Launch posing in front of it! By the way, did I see a news story about Eric Morecambe's statue beingh stolen?

Gregor, you have done excellent work on this project. You took an empty shell and brought it to life. I think your frustration comes from thinking what you built isn't all you intended. That's something I'm very familiar with too.

Having never built this kit, I didn't realize how big the tower building is when built. Because of that I think my suggestion of a removable roof was not helpful at all. Perhaps a better solution to display all your work on the interior would have have been a removable wall or a seires of cut a ways.

i want to go off on a rant about the whole "kit assembler " vs "real modeler" business because it really makes my teeth hurt, but I leave it with this.

Gregor if you're "just" a kit assembler, then I'm proud to stand with you as another one.

    Gregor, looks great mate.
Learning curves is part of this hobby,I have found this out, but pushing ourselves to do better can sometimes backfire, as I have with my Gladiator.
We all learn tricks through this and other forums, some are made to look easy, when in reality its a different kettle of fish.
Looking forward to seeing it at Halloween.

Gregor when we stop learning we need to find something else to do.
I have great respect for anyone willing to venture out of their comfort zone.
Your work on this is admirable. I think you will be pleasantly surprised when this all comes together.
    Looking forward to that day.

Simon, and Al thanks for the positive feedback. This has turned out to be more challenging than I first thought, and its only the support from the guys on this forum that has stopped me from relegating this project to the shelf of dooooomm! thanks again.

Greg ,it looks o.k. to me ,don't forget this is an ancient moulding ,it was around when I was a kid, o.k you may have spent a long time on the interior that you can't see but don't beat yourself up over it pal, the control tower is part of the dio as a whole.

Cheers Neil. In the end I didn't do much on the insides purely because you can't see anything! Still got a bit to do though, and hopefully it will look presentable.
