    Well folks, it`s back.
I bloody well resurrected this build .
After a telling off from the good lady Rose i.e. "no more new models started til these are finished.
So, the F 84 E was done and dusted, next up this.
Finished the nose area off for camo.

    Then masked for ID stripes.
    Alcad White Primer first.

    Then NATO Black XF 69.

I have also been playing around with masking fluids, to try to represent wear and tear.

With a lot of rubbing and gentle persuasion , was able to get her ready for varnishing.

A first for me, masking and spraying the canopy and windscreen.

Have added a few other shots of the build.
Will post more pics as she goes.

Cheers Gregor, I am hoping to get her done by Xmas, I have a couple of projects in mind ?

Thank you Craig, I am having a good go at this one, trying out a few new ( to me ) ideas on weathering etc.

    Oh dear , decals woe.
    Started applying the "dry" decals.
The "A" went on after a fight.

But the "V" was an a***, with the varnish lifting away under it.
Will have to do some remedial work there.

The "H" laid down Ok ish, but I will leave her alone until the weather improves (high winds, means no spraying).
    The trials of building ...
    Until later .

    Little update.
    I hate dry decals...
Of 6 to go on, only 3 and a half succeeded , not impressed.
The starboard side was worse off.

The port side not so bad.

At least I have all the letters complete to copy from.
The ID stripes will come in useful after all.

    All comments welcome.

Simon, perhaps a stencil drawn from the recalcitrant de-cals to finish the job? Certainly prototypical. Great scheme, streets away from the usual OD/NG. I can see now why dry transfers sorta died out. I well remember Letraset. Lovely, but... I remember the hobby shop owner warning me- "Gotta use a lot of pressure to make 'em work". Hey, I love the idea.

    Today...
Said sod it, and sprayed some varnish over the dry decals.
The port side came out OK, passable (at six feet)

The starboard side ? , maybe six yards LOL
We will see, with the decals to go on, maybe.

While I was at it Fnar Fnar, I gave the small bits one too.
A coat of varnish that is.

    As usual, all comments welcome.

Well, I have calmed down after the dry decals episode.
And started to put the decals on.
    Port side first, less damage.

They seemed to settle down OK after a drop of Revell Decal Soft.

The front ones look OK .

But some are too small, but I got the B*****s on.

I am going to leave this to dry overnight and start he other side tomorrow hopefully.

    All comments welcome.

Well, after 7 weeks, I got around to doing something at the bench.
This small amount took just over an hour.

The engine cowling when de-masked pulled some Grey off, so apply tape and dust over lightly.

The bombs needed some work at the nose end.
A pair of persistent offenders of decals.

A dab of varnish and some cross words said.
The U/C legs and doors were glued together ready for a coat of varnish before a dark wash.

Also cleaned up the gun barrels and primed them

I had primed them when pic taken.
As I said, not a lot, but at least I am back on the bech again.

    Simon.

Good to see you back to work, Simon, your detail work is impressive, how do you get such close-up pictures?
