Inspired by the work Spiros is doing on his Seahawk, I am returning to the Lynx. I have finished all major assembly and cleaned up seams and sink marks. The large square box filters for the exhaust fit together badly inside. This is mostly invisible behind the screen provided but the gaps could be seen from some angles. Careful filling with stretched sprue eiliminated gaps and seams.
-
1. Big gaps where the two halves of the box were filled with stretched sprue.
2. Sanded smooth afterwards
A final application of strips of styrene to even out the thickness to the ribs.
-
1. Strips of styrene clean up the edges of the ribs and make them of even thckness straight across
2. The screens cove up most of this but the work I did eliminates the crudeness of the interior structure
The main rotor was a challenge in cleaning up and fitting the tiny parts accurately. I was doubtful that it would all hold together after gluing but so far, so good.
Tinting the forward overhead portion of the windscreen required about 2 hours of work. I was a bit annoyed at first because my only bottle of clear blue had dried up. After some thought, I decided to mix Tamiya X-4 Blue and X-22 Clear and take my chances on whether it would be transparent enough. It was necessary to mask around the etch detailing I had already done inside the windscreen and proceed very slowly to spray the inside of the clear part to get the best tinting effect, without puddling the paint and creating uneven tinting. The first attempt was not successful so out came the Windex to wipe it all off. The second round went much better so calling it done now.

1. These doors fit like this without glue. This will be nice later when I want to pose the doors in different way for pics. I wil also be able to show off some of the Eduard door interior detail with one closed and one open temporarily.
. I was pleased to find that the sliding doors have a nice friction fit, as do the skids. I can close everything up that way for exterior painting (masking the interior) but take the doors off later to do final assembly. Hope you like it. Comments welcome.
