Thanks for that, James. Never seen it and if anything, it’s scarier than the poster.

    Appreciated, my friend.

David, this was taken recently and he's a Brit. Go back to the link and click on the "The Sun" link in the second to last paragraph. It will take you to the original interview post were there are a few more images. Amazing shots!

I noticed the letters arranged on the table in an earlier posting... Isn't "Mariposa" something to do with a Butterfly ? You always manage to bring a smile... Thanks.

201 postings and still going strong...

    James, @jamesb
That was an amazing Jaws "recreation" photo. Thanks for sharing that with us.

So your boat leaves cryptic messages too? @dirtylittlefokker
My projects do this as well from time to time… one even tried to bully me! Called the police but they wouldn’t believe me… had to deal with it the old way!
    Excellent carpentry BTW!
    Cheers,
    Aleks

“along comes Mr. Whitey...by the time he's finished with that net, it looks like a kiddy's scissor class has cut it up for a paper doll! You got city hands, Mr. Hooper! Been countin’ money all your life.”

    “Tie me a sheep shank!”

“I’ll take him along...for ballast, chief”

Louis, the ransom letters were my daughter’s doing. She was doing some crafts at my bench and started leaving messages - her nickname is Mariposa.

Time at the bench is paying off - today I added the raised gunwales, attached the pulpit, tidied up the hull a bit, and did some general cosmetic work.

Next up will be smoothing down the hull, papering over it, and then priming. The mast needs a lot of thought as there are lots of attachments and the rigging will need lots of cleats and fastens. And now I’m just realising how much is left to be done...

Hope anyone reading is having a great weekend.

Your finger, "Tis but a scratch"... and Monte Python and the Holy Grail- Black Knight is playing in my head.

I have a short tutorial on my Blog to make pulleys that are quick and easy for your mast rigging.

Michael, you are my new best friend. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Didn’t know about your blog and now that I do it is very much ‘favourited’. Excellent.

Because the scale of the Orca is nuanced (made to fit a specific place) I’d imagine it’d be hard to find blocks, pullies, etc in the right size, and as you point out in your blog, it can be expensive going down that road.

Thank you for the link. This was one of the parts of this build that I was ‘parking’ while I worried/waited for inspiration. Also, I’d much rather scratch build than buy ready made.

    Much, much appreciated!

You're welcome. Here, Here! to scratch building. I lost count how many pulleys I needed.

Glad you solved the mystery for me. Lots of sleepless nights hoping you hadn’t gone ‘round the bend working at the bench. Best WIP thread ever. #david
