The Monkee Mobile is hereby submitted to the iModeler at the Movies Group Build! The Monkee Mobile was a modified Pontiac GTO, made for the TV Show about the band The Monkees. A friend of mine cleaned out his attic and came to me with a gift of 8 model kits. He said he did not want any money for them when I offered, but he wanted me to build this Monkee Mobile for him since he lost some ability after a stroke. I was thrilled, and honored that he wanted me to build this kit for him. It is perfect to share with this group!

The original MPC kit was first released I believe in 1967. This was the very first model kit I ever built. For my 8th birthday I got the kit. Molded in red and chrome plastic with of course the clear parts. Instructions who needs instructions! Dad told me that we would work on the model together, but after a week I lost patience and built it anyway. Oh by the way you build the engine first install it and then built the rest. Well let say I didn't do that and ended up with an engine on display oh well . Great choice of the George Barris custom GTO. Good memories. I would love to find and build one just for memory sake. Looking forward to this one.

I bet there’s a few people looking forward to seeing this one develop.

Drive down memory lane - the car comes in just around 40 seconds...
