Paint looks great, (@michaelt). I have always wanted to build one of these, but the canopy masking has always detered me. What did you use to tint the canopy?

George (@gblair), the canopy isn't tinted. I masked it using this:

It is a clear, orange tinted tape used in the electronics industry.

I’ve been trying to work out the camouflage pattern on the Bv 141B.
These two are the best photos I can find.

This is my interpretation of the RLM 71 Dark Green sections. I’m happy with the starboard side but the port wing is hard to work out and the fuselage pattern is anyone’s guess.

And all masked up for the RLM 70 Black Green.

Camo is really coming along, Michael (@michaelt). Almost time for decals.

Your interpretation of the splinter camo is perfect, Michael @michaelt
    Nice progress.

This is the V10 that I am building.

It looks to me that the wing leading edge near the fuselage and the lighter section of the upper fuselage are painted a medium colour. The same or similar colour is outboard of the underwing cross, which itself has a chordwise light strip through it and missing outer black borders.

My conclusion is that the aircraft has been damaged - possibly a port landing gear failure - and has been repaired/re-skinned in places.

I think the lighter areas are painted RLM 02.

So, this is how I have painted it:

I attempted to weather the dark greens by adding some grey and overspraying, but it it hasn’t had much effect.

To me your thoughts about the plane being damaged are fully right, Michael @michaelt
The splinter camouflage looks nice, it is always difficult to weather those dark colors.

Your approach sounds correct and also gives the bird a very interesting look, my friend @michaelt!

    Gloss coat and decals done.

I cut a strip out of the port under wing cross as per the photo and trimed the outer black borders.

WOW ! This looks incredible with the different colors applied and the decals added. I never realized that you were building the V-10 prototype. These prototype aircraft were often not painted or marked as the typical production types would have been.

I have a few FW's in what I copied Erik and used his term Kindergarten for. In this group are a long wing Ta-152, and also the V-18 prototype, with looks like a combination of a typical 190 and added the radiator of a P-51 on it. It is in a mostly overall RLM 02 color with some bare metal panels here and there.

After seeing how cool your V-10 prototype looks, I may have to take another look at the Fw-190 V-18 again...

Keep it going my friend, as you are almost there... 🙂
