Pity about the decals, my friend @johnb!
Let's hope our friend @holzhamer will come up with good news!

@holzhamer, it was indeed to be expected but ofcourse you always hope for the best

    Interior start
A start has been made by cutting of the interior parts from the sprues and cleaning those up a bit. I was pleasently surprised to see that the side panels did have some nice details on them.
According the instructions, the interior color is RLM77. Doing some research, it seems that for interior on early WWII German aircraft RLM02 was mostly used. Therefore I decided to use that, unless someone can tell that RLM77 is the prefered color.

02 should be the correct shade John. Going to check those decals right now

John, unfortunately I don’t have any Legion Condor Decal for your Henschel, but I do have 2 options for pre-war machines carrying the 3 splinter scheme of RLM 61/62/63 over the 65 blue
    One from Tamiya

    The other from AmTech

Both sheets are well preserved and look spot on

John, you might wanna try out some microscale liquid decal film (I checked, it is available in your local store, the big one) - perhaps it is a good backup if Pedro does not have any in the stash, but of course some newer decals may be needed after all. Best of luck.

Oh and I shall be strapped in to follow the dualbuild.

@holzhamer, thanks a lot Pedro, I did sent you a PM.
@airbum, thanks Erik. Might be a possible save if the old decals need to be used.
    @fiveten, thanks a lot Spiros.

Yes, microscale liquid film should help.

    Hello John @johnb
This is a very interesting subject you have chosen. I'm sorry to hear about the decals, but as Spiros and others have mentioned, the plastic indeed looks to be in very good shape. I have one of the Italeri kits, and two of the "upgraded" AmTech boxings of this very same kit.

I am concerned that since my kits are getting older, (like me), the decals that came in the box are likely brittle as well. Time will tell if they are or are not. Believe it or not, this is one of my favorite of the Luftwaffe inter war era biplanes.

Thank you very much for starting this build journal. I am definitely signed up for watching it as you work your magic on it. I am looking forward to seeing your next installments.
As far as the color choices, I would follow Pedro's @holzhamer

recommendations and stay with the RLM 02. He is one of our resident in house experts on the subject. By the looks of things in your latest photos, you are well on your way with painting the cockpit. It looks very good too.

Take care my friend, and stay safe.

    Interior upgrade
Because of the spartanic looks of the interior, I will try to apply some upgrades.
Seatbelts will be added and some cables will be mounted on the sidepanels.
For the seatbelts I use masking tape painted with Humbrol 22.
Belt buckles will be metal rings created from electra wire.

Wires mounted on the side panels are also electra wire but from copper this time.
Still some cleaning up needs to done.

That’s some skills John! How do you get those rings so perfect?

@fiveten, first attempt to busy up the interior, when making close-up images I clearly see some improvements to be made however.

@holzhamer, thanks Pedro. The rings to look like circles, I did the following.

Cut one string of a multi threaded electra wire.

Twist that wire around a thin (depending the diameter you require) tube.

The toothpick in the picture is just for comparison.

After removing the twisted thread from the tube you will have a nice spring.

Next cut one side of the spring with a side cut tweezer.

You will end up with quite some nice looking rings.

Neat trick. I tried that once and made a mess out of it lol
