@fiveten @johnb @lgardner @michaelt - thank you all for the kind words and continued interest in my builds.

First off to announce some exciting news… Eduard will be featuring both of these Fw on their instagram and possibly magazine.

Next, efforts on the diorama have begun.

Assortment of diorama media and supplies that I’ll be using

Mach up of how I’m envisioning the planes. It might change.

Foam board cut to size (wanted it to fit on my shelf) and addition of Elmer glue and real dirt.

I didn’t apply any more glue above the dirt. The reason is because I will next apply a nice layer of AK Interactives Terrain mud. By leaving the top layer of soil loose, it mixes with the mud. This mixing feeds fine “pebbles” towards the top of the surface which I will go back towards the end and hand paint. This hand painting step I’ve discovered gives you a good opportunity to add many different shades of grey and lends to a more realistic look.

    Overall my steps will be:

    Cut foam board
    Apply real dirt
Cut and attach wooden supports for camouflage tent
Apply terrain mud. While drying put in tire marks etc
    Add static grass strategically
    Add other types of foliage
Prime the whole thing in black
    Airbrush desired shades and colors
    Dry brush highlighting colors
    Handpaint details
    Add planes (will remain removable)
Add in diorama “fluff” (figures, carts, barrels, etc)
    Add top of camouflage netting

When I say camouflage net, I’m referring to this:

An assortment of my fluff assets. Still need a bit of sanding, but otherwise ready for paint -

I still have a few tables I wanna build and a set of pressurized cylinders for welding. I will also be making probably another 3-4 barrels and a few small vehicles.

    Some wonderful ideas, Keith @greenterrorz
The camouflage 'net' will look amazing like this.

I think this might be the way to display the planes. Allows a natural and organic feeling way to still see a good portion of details.

Frame going together for plane camouflaged cover

Frame complete and mud down. As you can see from the pics, at this stage I have mixed the acrylic mud product with the real dirt. After application, I also added tire marks.

The surface and frame look really good, Keith @greenterrorz
How did you create the tire marks.

    Thank you @fiveten

@johnb - Thanks John. I applied the tire tracks using a few different sized brushes and water. Some people use extra wheels to do it, but I’ve found this to work okay.

Static grass has been applied. Tomorrow I’ll add various other foliage. Friday night I’ll prime it with black and paint it. Hopefully be done with the diorama by the early next week.

Nice shadings of the various grass, Keith @greenterrorz
Thanks for explaining the tracks application.

    More progress:

Primed the whole thing in black. If you’ve not done this before, it adds depth to the diorama. Similarly to preshading an aircraft.

    Primary painting is done.

Tomorrow I will do detail painting and dry brushing. These will be the final steps for this part of the diorama. Afterwards I still need to paint all the figures and other supporting items.
