Well, guys... I'm on a roll at present so here's my next subject.

Possibly one of the most unloved of Luftwaffe aircraft designs, this was apparently rather a good aircraft to fly but by the time it had most of its issues addressed, the Fw189 was already in the same reconnaissance role and doing well; the unorthodox design probably didn't do anything to endear it to Luftwaffe officials and its requirement to use the BMW801 engine was an apparent issue as well, as Fw190 production would have a greater demand on this power plant.

There aren't many colour scheme choices for this one, so I've decided to try my luck with the overall RLM02 Grey scheme. As for the build, the kits is very good overall and more or less builds itself, although you have to be careful with the crew compartment, as it's moulded entirely in clear plastic and some deft painting around the various transparencies will be required.

Interior detail is first class, and I believe there are enhancement accessories to make it even more so, but I elected to build it as is, with the exception of adding in seat belts and some more life-like pedals. So far, the small transfers for the dashboard etc have gone down well so I hope this is a good indicator for the other markings.

As you can see below, the cockpit came up well and I have also taken time to remove the ailerons and rudder as well as scoring along the elevator hinge line in order to adjust its stance. I think this will give some life to the kit, along with leaving the crew hatches in the open position, and substituting the kit engine for the CMK BMW801 accessory kit. I salvaged that from my now-departed Do217 which developed terminal wing droop...! 🙁

Once I find a way round the incorrect propellor blades, I can get started with the painting; currently I have the 'fuselage' to wing as one assembly, and the wing/gondola as the other and have so far avoided plastering the latter with unwanted fingerprints or adhesive stains... I will endeavour to keep it that way!

Hope you like the progress so far.

    Regards,

    Paul

The prop has to be replaced because it's reversed. The kit makes up nicely. Here's my M2 review:

So, my Bv141 is now complete... here are some more images.

The first one shows the CMK BMW801 engine along with the replacement propellor taken from a Dragon Ju88G nightfighter kit and slightly modified for a better appearance. The spinner and backplate are from the kit, although the latter was cut back noticeably to get the best look when it was attached to the engine. The exhaust outlets need rearranging as they are too many and in the wrong places.

The canopies were covered with Maskol before painting and I chose to use slightly differing shades of RLM02 grey-green just to make the finish less uniform. All markings were replaced from the spares box. The kit was blackwashed and finished with Future/Pledge, and my own satin mix as a final coat using Humbrol's matt 49 varnish along with their Gloss Coat.

There's also a short YouTube video build process here:

    Thanks for looking in... ;-).

    Paul

Hobby Boss must have fixed the "prop error" because the kit my son gave me the last Christmas has the properly rotating prop...ie, clockwise looking forward.
