    Hi, guys...

This will be my next offering to the group build. This kit was first issued in 1978 and all reissues since then have been in respect of new markings as far as I'm aware.

This offering, however, is from 2013 and is a proper upgrade in that there is a smart, fully detailed cockpit and additional fuselage/cockpit parts on a PE fret, and other plastic parts such as mooring cleats, engine parts and a new, accurately detailed canopy. The kit has markings for five colour scheme options - three German, one French and one Spanish. The two small issues I have is that Italeri didn't take the opportunity to add a revised beaching trolley rather than the four-piece clear plastic stand, and there is no dashboard transfer for the PE piece; on the other hand, once painted and put in place, little of the cockpit in general will be seen unless the modeller wishes to go to the trouble of opening up the relevant canopy sections.

Anyway, it looks a much better kit than the original and I'm looking forward to working on it. I hope to add some photos soon.

    Regards,

    Paul

Looking forward to this, I love flying boats. Had the great privilege a few years back to tour the Hawaii Mars at Lake Elsinore. Thrill of a lifetime!

Great pick, Paul. I’ll be following along as I wish to build a Dutch version of that kit.

Amazing entry, my friend @paulh, yet another one to the ever growing and utterly successful "Luftwaffe" GB!
I have the older "simpler" version to build one day. Will be interesting to see how the "upgraded" version builds.
Looking forward to this great build!

A classic kit, wasn’t aware of this PE box edition. Looking forward to see how it turns out. Build this one as a teen back in the early 80’s

I hope you buy putty by the barrel. 🙂

I've seen good results with this kit, but they all said they had to slog to get there.

    Hi, guys...
I've finished my build of this kit now, and here are some of the images. On this occasion, they are fewer than I would normally offer you, but I have been doing an experimental process with this build. I opened a YouTube account recently and have now published the build process as my first video. I hasten to add, it definitely does NOT have Holywood production values, but for someone who's had to self-educate himself in the fine art of video production as well as setting up the account, it's a decent start.

There are some issues with it, most notably when my hand gets too close to the camera lens that I thought I was going to punch myself in the face! I didn't remove that one prior to making the video public, and I'm sure there will be other gliches to be found. I hope you'll be understanding of my raw and newly-acquired skills! 🙂

Anyway, it's available here if you have some time to be doing nothing much in particular:

Back to the model itself, I did laugh at your comment, Tom, about needing putty but in the end, this kit builds into arguably a much better end result than the original 1978 offering. As noted in my opening comments above, there is now some considerable substance to the cockpit area and aside from that, the canopy and surrounding area on the fuselage is much improved, and the nose and upper fuselage decking, along with the mooring cleats and extra parts for the engines are very welcome additions to the model.

The markings are varied and colourful, and go on well and settle well on the kit. The only additional ones I needed were the swastikas, from my spares box.

    Regards,

    Paul

Congratulations, my friend @paulh! An excellent result! Also great to hear that the latest kit version yields a much improved result than the original. I liked your video a lot! Great job! My understanding is that making a video is not an easy job.
Thanks for this entry in the ever growing "Luftwaffe" GB!
    Well done!

    Hi, Spiros...

Thanks very much for your comments, and indeed, to everyone else who commented over on my blog page... :-).
I admit I was a bit apprehensive when I posted the video, but it seems to have been an acceptable start so I'm pleased with that. With experience will come more confidence.

    Regards,

    Paul
