Two months since the last post...
Too much going on in real life but in between, I was thinking how to best add the ammo bunker doors to the model. The gun is finished, apart from some leftover painting. The dilemma with the doors was:

    1. I did not see how to build the frame in a circle without painting components first
    2. If already painted, the fixing of components would hamper setting of glue, so in fact, I was stuck

This week, I thought of a solution: Fix the U-rails below in place using thumbnails and then glue the supports in place while working only with naked (=unpainted) styrene. This would - if feasible - solve the setting problem and allow for painting the entire arc of doors ex-situ (away from the already finished model).

Here is how it should look like:

Here is the frame in place from different corners:

Here the interior doors were added already:

Hope you like it, glad to be back!
    Happy modeling!
    Michel.

Dry fitted with twin 128 mm guns but without the wood base.

Thanks @airbum I indeed spent too much time away from the bench to be honest, totally beyond my control!

    Thanks all @johnb, @fiveten, @gwskat and @airbum
Here is the next iteration: I painted the strip of doors flat black end then pre- shaded using sandy yellow and white. After that folowed a base coat (light) of rust and brown colors, all Revell enamel with the paintbrush.

Next is a coat of acrylic cote then I will weather using oils. Stay tuned, happy this one progresses again.

    Michel.

    Very realistic, Michel @michel-verschuere
Those doors look even better than the 1:1's that I have at home.

Here is an update: Weathered the doors using dots of oil paint and then streaked it down with a flat brush doped in lighter fluid (kind of a pin wash that is). Looking ok, I left one bunker open and made a shell storage rack from scratch, will continue tomorrow.

    Happy modeling!
