Your F4U-1A looks outstanding. Appreciate all the research you put into this Rob@robertandy. That's part of the fun and knowledge isn't it?

Though, very weathered, it has a great subtle, realistic look. Very nice, Rob. @robertandy

Thanks guys, the Corsairs in the Solomons were just amazingly worn, I almost feel I didn't go far enough. The thing with weathering is of course you can't un-do it if you go too far!

Personally, Rob, I think it looks damn good.
The hardest thing to learn with the artistic side of our hobby, like weathering, is "just when you think it needs a little more...DONT! Whatever you decide I'm sure it will look great.

I agree with Gary here. If I was to do anything at all, I would consider adding a touch of Yellow Zinc color on the top sides of the wings to make it look as if the paint has worn down some exposing the primer.

I did this on my James Cupp F4U using pastels and some chalk. It will allow the chipping to show through. Your chipping looks spot on too. We often see the rivet / spot weld lines exposed on top of the oil coolers just like you have done with yours.

    Excellent job here !

Thanks Louis, I decided against the ZC yellow because I was not confident I could chip well, and add worn areas. I hadn't thought of using pastels like I did for the rest of the paint. I may just give that a try!

So, like this then? Looks pretty good I think! Thanks Louis for the tip!

Thanks, yeah I don't know why I didn't think to use pastels for that since I used them for most of the color variation!
