Found out, that when you follow the instructions and glue the cockpit tub to the lower fuselage part and insert the whole thig into the rest of the fuselage, the upper cockpit parts don´t line up and theres a gap to the upper fuselage area.

Could get cockpit and lower fuselage apart again and glued the cockpit into the fuselage.

Sorry, but that cockpit info is wrong. All Grumman-built F4Fs hd a Bronze Green cockpit interior. the intrior of the wheel well and the engine cowling is light aircraft grey.

I am very happy to see your dad is building another Yellow Wings paint scheme. These are my all time favorite era aircraft.

Several years ago I built one of these and it went together well. The only thing I remember about the kit was the landing gear was tricky.

This one is looking really good.

    some paint for the engine

    getting the wings together
according to the instructions the guns have to be glued into the halves before, but this way they most probably won´t "survive" until the end, so gonna insert some barrels at a later point

Engine and wings look great, my friend @grimreaper! Wise decision to leave the barrels off, to install at later phases.
