Continuing with the engines, quite involving, take time to set proper alignment, the locating pins into notches are not prefect and need to be patient. Fit is very tight and some parts will not fit unless trimmed to fit.
Building the second set of exhaust collector rings.
The oil cooler ring is attached to the back of the engine and corresponding oil cooler. The ring to the back of the engine would slip over the back of the crank case, this is a critical part and a bit fragile so care and more patience to get it sit in place. Then attach the oil cooler. Any mis alignment here, will affect how the cowlings will fit later once the engine is installed when assembling the nacelles.
-
1. Trim to fit
2. Notch must be facing straight down
-
1. Very tight here
2. Notch for oil cooling facing straight down
Next what might be the starter motor and housing. Is attached back of the crank case. The air filter is also attached.
Next is the rear firewall which also is the front wall of the wheel bay. The hydraulic tank is mounted here as well.
The hydraulic tank is assembled and attached to the firewall.
The air filter intake housing is attached to the top of the engine assy.
Engine #2 is ready for the rear detail bits just completed on engine #1.
-
1. Back of engine #2 before the details are attached.
Next is to attach the 3 engine mount braces. When planning on this state, I decided to also attach the rear fire wall and gear struts which is the next step. Better for alignment when attaching the braces and then the rear wall at the same time.
This is part of the build will reveal how precise you have to be when assembling the engine. As the braces are aligned properly when the rear wall is attached, if not, a mess to fix. Patience, patience,
After attaching the lower support brace, the firewall is ready to install to still setting braces.
The main gear strut is then installed to the wall. Very good solid contact point, on a kit that will be a bit heavy when finished.
next is to assemble the nacelles
