    Gary, @gwskat
What a bummer with the break through on the fuselage, and kudos to Aires for supplying the needed missing parts. Customer service seems to be disappearing now days, so it's actually a breath of fresh air to see that someone actually cares about their customers.

The progress you have made with your Spitfire is commendable. I like what I'm seeing here. Keep it going bud !

Hey All! it's been a while for an update.

Assembled the inner upper and lower wing/fuselage and added the lower wing scoops.
Added some aluminum foil behind the lower nav lights and a piece of styrene for internal structure for the lower cowl/scoop.

    Fuselage assembled and firewall inserted.

Added a piece of resin behind the firewall for engine assembly support.

Assembled fuselage and inner wing assembly.

The kit does not have a solid support structure for the wings in the upright folded position so I am doing the following:
During the assembly of the inner and outer wings and wing structure I added two part epoxy behind the inner and outer wing pieces for the scratch built wing supports.

To give a solid support for the wings in the upright position I am using a straight pin bent to a 90deg angle. The pin will be inserted into a plastic tube, which is inserted into the epoxy added at wing assembly. I will be able to paint and finish the wings before final assembly.
Closer to completion I will add more detail to the fold.

Added the horizontal tail stabs. and Lower cowl/scoop. Sprue-goo filled gaps.

Thanks for following. Until next time...KEEP IT FUN!

    Nice progress, Gary @gwskat
Great ideas about the foil and the bended pins.
Fun is the most important factor of modelling.

Hey All! Hope you are well and safe in this crazy world!

    Mid week update:
Replaced the kit gun barrels with hypo needles. (one needs to be cleaned out after painting)
    Added Rudder and Tail Gear.

    Primed with Mr Surfacer 1500.
    Added Firewall detail.

Painted with AK Real Colors RAF Dark Grey and RAF Sky (mixed with white to tone down the Sky color)
Decal and weathering prep: Gloss coated with Pledge/Mr Leveling Thinner

    Up coming:
Painting engine bay interior and firewall details.
Decaling (none of my favorite parts of modeling... gives the build a "personality"!
Starting the gear, canopy and adding the engine and cowl framing.

Hmmmmmm...Not sure yet, but I'm pondering a small vignette with the cowl pieces ?

Until next time fellow iModelers...KEEP IT FUN!

Hey All! Thanks for the comments.

Decaling complete using the Kitsworld and kit decals (for common markings)

    Issues with the Kitsworld decals:
The roundels were not white enough or not white at all.
Not enough 7's were supplied for the scheme I chose from the decal marking options ...177.
Only side views are supplied for decal placement.

    Luckily I had spare roundels.
I spliced in two 7's from the kit decals.
Pics and kit instructions used for decals placement.

So if you are planning to use/purchase Kitsworld...beware and give them a good look before choosing them. Which is too bad because the decals are nice to use and look good.

Be safe in this crazy world and KEEP IT FUN!

Thanks, Spiros. Being an old timey modeler you learn to overcome such inconveniences. All part of the FUN!

    Hello Gary @gwskat
This is looking VERY nice ! A few years ago when we had the 100 Years of the RAF group build going on, I started my Airfix F46/47 model. Sadly it was not completed, and it is still sitting there in a plastic storage bin waiting for me to finish it up. 🙁

Now after looking at how good your model looks, I might have to drag mine back out and go for the finish line. The problem is that lately I have had next to zero time for building, and even much less time for posting anything.

Your use of the "sprue goo" is a good idea. I have been using it every since our friend Spiros @fiveten
showed us how it was made and used. Now I have not been using regular filler since then.

I am looking forward to the vignet, and I will remember your advice with the decals. Chances are I will likely paint the area behind the insignia white after what you have experienced.

Keep it going my friend, and keep it fun ! 🙂
