This is a re-relase of the Airfix Vickers Wellington with a camouflage scheme from December 1939. No. 9 squadron flew a daylight attack in the Battle of Heligoland Bight (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_HeligolandBight(1939))
I want to build it with AK Interactive acrlyics and also will provide some base / simple diorama. It is too bad Airfix have not included pilots and crew because otherwise i might do this one with the wheels up.

First thing i did was of course a soapy bath. I then proceeded to prime the interior and paint the all the small parts. I will probably not do too much weathering on the inside as most of it won't be visible. I did that with the Liberator and it is a bit frustrating not being able to see any of it anymore.

This will be a great one to watch ! I'm looking forward to seeing this one come to life.

Thank you for the invitation. I have a few projects that will need to be completed because they have a deadline. But I will build something for your new group. Possibly an early Spitfire. I have several of the new 1/48 Tamiya kits, and a 1/32 Kotare early Mk I that have been calling me lately. I have not decided what I will build just yet. This is subject to change. I could also build a few 109 Emils for the group.

Thanks again, and I'll be watching for updates on your Wellington.

That’s a great kit, Felix. I’m normally of the opinion that if I can’t see it, I don’t bother with it. But that kit is different. I detailed every tiny bit of that interior and enjoyed it immensely. I’ve got to get around to doing the ASW Mk. VIII in the stash soon.

    Dear Louis @lgardner
Thank you so much for your kind reply! I look forward to seeing your builds in this group. An early Spit is always great - the Kotare kit must be great, from what i have seen and heard. Speaking of Emils, Airfix have released their 1/48 Emil with french livery of a captured plane, that looks great!
Have a great weekend and best regards from Zurich.

Thanks for the heads up, John @j-healy. Sounds like i should invest some effort ino the interiors, after all. Thanks a lot! I would love to do the Coastal Command scheme, but prices on evilbay are too high.

You are quite welcome my friend. I am looking forward to building something for your group too. I have looked at the Kotare Spitfire in the box, and it looks incredible. I have a previously started 1/32 Revell Mk I Spitfire, that I have picked up some resin parts from either Barracuda or Eagle Editions, I don't remember which company offhand. I got everything needed to fix what Revell got wrong. It could be a contender too for your group.

The new tool 1/48 Tamiya Spitfires also look outstanding in the box... This is going to be a hard choice to make for me.

The new Airfix kit sounds interesting. Captured and in French markings. Very cool. I have been waiting for the new tool 1/48 Airfix Lysander to come out. It looks to be a wonderful kit.

Do you know anything about the 1/48 scale Wellington that is made by Trumpeter ? I have been thinking about someday getting one, and possibly their 1/48 scale FW-200 Condor. My eyes are not good enough anymore to build 1/72 scale.

Enjoy your weekend, and hopefully you will make some great progress on your Wellington.

You created a wonderful group, Felix @fxrob
And what great aircraft to start with, the Wellington and Hurricane are my favorite aircraft of the early years of WWII
Looking forward to your progress on these ones.
I will definitely join this group as well, maybe with a Hurricane, but a Battle and Gladiator might be an option as well.

Thank you for your kind words, John @johnb!
I agree with you, i too love the Hurricane and the Wellington. The little Airfix kit is great as the balance between scale reduction and detail is perfect imho. I look forward to seeing your Battle / Gladiator!

    Dear Louis @lgardner
I absolutely want to build a Lysander. Unfortunately i cannot give you any information regarding the Trumpeter Wellington. It must be large!

    Hi Felix

Thanks for the invite hopefully will be adding ICM's Bristol Beaufort Mk 1 to your group build. She was part of No22 Squadron based at North Coates Lincolnshire in April 1940. I hope she fits the bill
