About this Group

Hi guys , I am taking on a challenging project in the ancient Airfix 1/24 Mustang. This kit was given to me first time round in about 1975 and was way beyond my ability at the age of around 9 years, I don't even remember finishing it. Anyhow at the princely sum of £70 (pricey for me) I am having another go, I know this kit has been re-issued many times over the years but never in the classic "This is it !" markings that I had back in the day.

I am going to try and make the best job of this beauty as I can so I will need some help with details and aftermarket goodies.

First of I would like to know how a WW2 Mustang engine would have been finished I have seen Rolls Royce Merlins in in all black paint ,in black and bare metal and completely un painted, my feeling is that they would have been un painted but who knows ? also what was the finish of the engine bay was it un painted or green or something else.

That will do for starters but I will have more questions as the build progresses.

Any help will be greatfully received.
