Thanks my friend @johnb! This kit, though old, has good potential at many areas. If only Esci had added some more detail in this cockpit and exhaust...

    Decaling finished...

Decals behaved flawlessly, despite being almost 40 years old. No wonder Cartograf is a leader among decal makers...
    Thanks for stopping by!

    Great decalling, Spiros @fiveten
What a beautiful 'roundel' the SAAF uses.

Thanks my friend @johnb! Indeed, I consider the SAAF insignia among the most charming ones!

Added brake lines at the MLG legs, also rest of the landing gear parts are under final preparation... Thanks for stopping by!

The two quite prominent NLG retracting rods were not provided by the kit and were fabricated out of stretched sprue...

Great improvements on the landing gear, Spiros @fiveten.
Both, brake lines and retracting rods do add a lot to this kit.

Spiros your Impala looks great! Well done my friend. The SAAF insignia is a golden Springbok with the outline of the Castle, built by the first Dutch settlers in Cape Town, as the background. This SAAF insignia changed after 1994 when the Castle and Springbok was replaced by an Eagle over the Castle and then the Castle outline was replaced by an African tribal 'kraal' behind an Eagle.

Thanks my friend @mornem! This is amazing info regarding SAAF insignia!
The Esci kit, now reboxed by Italeri, is not a bad kit. It would have been superb, should Esci have provided a more busy/correct cockpit and landing gear, as well as a more realistic exhaust area.

Very true indeed my friend. The cockpit needs a bit of scratchbuilt details and the exhaust can also benefit from scratchbuilt details. It is a nice kit from Esci. I built this kit back in 1984 as a young boy cutting his modelling teeth on his first 1/48 kit.

    Looking great, Spiros @fiveten
No high heels for her, less chance in knocking the landing gear off.
