Well, I am having difficulties with wrinkles on the trailing edges and wing tips of all the horizontal surfaces. This is a combination of the curves and the need to wrap the foil around the trailing edge because it tends to pull away if only on one side of the surface.
I've also identified a problem with inconsistent glue application which I am going to rectify with new disposable paint brushes. I was trying to use cotton buds, but it would not give a smooth enough application and tended to leave small bits of stuff which show through the foil.
For the trailing edge part, I am going to still wrap around the trailing edge, but stop just a little bit on the opposite side (underside) instead of trying to carry over to the next available panel line on the underside. I believe the wrinkles come about because there is still too much material that needs to be left intact after wrapping in order to be able to cover the lower areas. By reducing the amount of underside area to be covered in one shot, I hope to minimize wrinkling.
For the wing tips, its the tightness of the double curves which is causing issues. I just cannot get the foil to conform to this small of a curve regardless of what I do. The foil needs to wrap around these as well for the same reason as elsewhere, namely to avoid having the foil lift at edges.
So I am going to first try splitting the the foil lengthwise at the wing tip so that I only have to deal with a single curve. The foil would wrap around the wing tip outermost edge in line with the wing. There would be a small seam visible where the two pieces of foil meet, but that is preferable to wrinkles. If that doesn't work, then I will probably just paint those with Alclad.
I've already removed most of the bad foil, but there are a few remaining spots that I need to look at. I also have to get the disposable paint brushes. I'm using disposable brushes because even cleaning the brush immediately after glue application still leaves it stiff after it dries out. It also means I have to wait each time I use the brush (while it dries) before I can do another area. This slows down the work considerably.

1. Trailing edges with their curves and the need to wrap the foil around that trailing edge, has lead to problems with wrinkles, forcing me to remove the foil and try again.
2. Tail plane wingtips (and the main wing tips) have double curves and a similar need for wrapping. This has defied every attempt so far to get foil down without wrinkles.
3. New approach for the wingtips will be to split the foil lengthwise in the areas I am applying it so that I can minimize the amount of curve I have to deal with when wrapping.
I had been pushing to get the foiling done on the wings. But having to do this rework, has kind of let the wind out of my sails, so I am going to put this project down for a couple of days until I get the disposable brushes and am mentally ready to resume. In the meantime, I will get back on the Mohawk conversion.
