Impressive work, Keith @greenterrorz That's a lot of bending you have done.
Awesome job, my friend @greenterrorz!
Wow, Keith @greenterrorz, this is a really big project. All of that PE makes my head hurt. Looking forward to seeing this come together.
Thank you all!
I have went ahead and did some priming and also painted some torpedos that are stored internally.
Awesome progress and ditto looks continued, my friend @greenterrorz!
Very nice progress, primer looks very smooth, Keith @greenterrorz
The Hull is officially painted.
I decided to do black pre-shading followed by randomized mottles of yellow, red, and hull red. For my top coat, I did 50-50 Tamiya Red and Tamiya Hull Red. The reason I chose to mix the Red/Hull Red for the topcoat is because the regular red was too bright, and the hull red was too dark in my opinion.
This will need to cure for a few days before I can mask it up and do the upper section.
The hull looks wonderfully painted, my friend @greenterrorz!
Very nice paintwork indeed, Keith @greenterrorz
Bottom painting looks great, Keith @greenterrorz. Working in sub-assemblies is the only way to get through a complicated build like this.
@johnb @fiveten @gblair
Thank you all.
Yeah I’m finding it better to do small sections at a time to completion versus following the instructions from Tamiya.
The MOgami build is coming along nicely Keith (@greenterroz). I like how you did that hull red. Looks nice and realistic. I'll have to remember that whenever I get to my one a only one ship model (Fletcher class destroyer).
Thanks @clipper. I had seen the idea originally on YouTube where someone used orange as a base under red. The more variation in coloration, the more depth you can achieve.
Last night I was able to get some more work done on the Mogami:
Cheers!
The multi layered paint approach has been one of the best techniques I've learned in recent years. It has improved my satisfaction with my own model painting.
Looks fantastic, my friend @greenterrorz!
