The title says “…and a tanker” and here it is.
Major components have been glued together for painting the main chassis colour.

This is a really cool build, Michael (@michaelt). The Nick is one of the best looking planes that the Japanese had, and building 3 makes it 3 times cooler. Looking forward to the rest of the build(s).

Painted Midnight Blue for a IJN truck.
    The seat is Brown.
    All as per Hasegawa instructions.

I’m going to weather and fade this all severely like this one.

I’ve seen interpretations of this as being a mix of IJN (blue) and IJAAF (kakhi) colours - as the both used the same tanker - but I think that the tank is covered in a tarpaulin and the rest is dirt and mud.
I’m not going to attempt the tarp.

The tarp could be there to keep the fuel cool in the tropical sun - perhaps watered down to slowly evaporate, an old bush craft trick.

A great start on the tanker, Michael @michaelt
Your suggestion on the tarp sounds very plausible.

Purely fictitious, but I reasoned that the ammunition for the 37mm gun would be stored in the same space as the 20mm magazines. So, I built a ‘rack’ for the 16 37mm shells (copper wire - close enough to brass).
The plastic sheet drilled ok but was too thin to not warp a bit when I inserted the copper wires. I should have found a thicker piece of plastic to use instead.

The weathering is a bit more than I intended.

Now it add some fuel staining.

The shells as well as the rack do look really nice, Michael @michaelt
Weathering turned out nice from my point of view.

    Fuel stains added.

I almost got this done in a weekend.
Plus, I’ve added wings to two of the Nicks and glued the fuselage of the other one together.
