These results in combination with your family outage seems like one of those amazing days in life.

Thanks for the comment guys, it really motivates me to get more progress done on this build and try new things to impress you guys...and make the build better, haha. I was having a look at the port side of the plane and noticed that the red band is crooked. I will take the day to decide whether I want to fix that. It's extra work I don't want to do but it really sticks out now that I noticed it. Of course some imperfection in the band is fine, but Im wondering if that band followed a rivet line so it should be fairly straight.

Oh, if anyone notices things like that on my builds, please feel free to let me know, peer pressure is also a great motivator to fix mistakes.
    Peace!

The 2 red shades are very nice, and imo spot on.
I would love to have, and most of all know how to operate, a machine such the one you have there Woody…endless masking possibilities wow!
Do you know if the filer cap of the drop tank was also painted red as those in the wings? I have no images of the drop tank’s upper side to guide me, but I do feel incline to paint it as such

@holzhamer Hi Pedro, I have the Silhouette Cameo 4, but you can go for the smaller and cheaper Portrait 3. I chose Silhouette because it seems to be what most modelers are using and chose the Cameo 4 specifically because it has the most force of any hobby cutter (I plan on attempting cutting styrene with it sometime in the future). You can design simple designs in the provided Software (Studio), but if you're only using Studio then it would be best to upgrade the software.

Since I use Cad at work (2d only), I use it to trace designs/decal sheets (simple lines, circles, arcs and fillets) and export a DXF file than can then be imported into Studio. Basic Studio will import GSD, DXF, PNG, JPG, BMP, GIF and Tiff files, and the higher end version will additionally import SVG and PDF files as well as have more drafting/editing features.

I have attached some photos of the Legend Flyers drop tank, and they have a red cap on it. It does make sense that it would be red like the wing caps though. Also attached some more photos that Ryan Toews posted (drop tank comparison) , period photos and Taizu Nakamura's A6M relics.
I have seen some tanks unpainted, so that's a possibility to add some character to your build

    @wkubacki

Thank you so much for these wonderful pics Woody, really appreciate the gesture.

Guess there’s no way of know if there was a rule about the cap, but from your pics I get the feeling there wasn’t one.

The B&W photo shows it with a different shade from the remaining of the tank, but not sure if it’s red or just some other colour (?)

Anyway your photos are food for though 😉

And no less important, thank you also for the cameo explanation. Too bad I do not have CAD expertise, but it can be learned

Fixed! Re-masked and re-sprayed the fuselage band and created some new masks for the fuel filler caps as my previous ones were too small. Now all is as it should be.

Finally done! Decals were applied, then sealed (just the decals) with Aquagloss and then sanded down to hide the edge of carrier film. Fortunately, there were only a few decals to add (7). The gunsight glass was gut out and replaced with thin clear sheet, which was then tinted with AK clear smoke. Weathering was done with Mig Panel wash (sandy grey) and various oils. the aerial was strung through the hole I made in the tail and white glue was added to simulate the insulators.

I will be taking some proper photos this weekend , or at least I hope to. This will be tricky as capturing the grey will be challenging.

Finally got around to taking photos of the Zero, after I had to repair the antenna mast that I broke. I'm not 100% satisfied with the photos in that they don't match the look of the plane in real life (too green in the photos). If I feel motivated enough, I may re-take the photos outside, in natural sunlight.

Thanks for everyone's comments in the build, I really appreciate your support.

And now on to the J2M5...
