    Result looks good, Woody @wkubacki
I agree that those tools would be very helpful and will look good at the bench.

After a bit of a delay, I have started painting the camouflage. From what I can tell, the plane was painted Midori Iro (ie Nakajima green) and then mottles of a darker green were painted overtop. I am assuming they are mottle of Ao Midori Iro (blue green/jungle green). Mr Color and AK both have the Malawian green, as well as MRP. The Mrp version is lighter and I decided that would suit Me best as I wanted the paint to look sun beaten. For the blue green I chose AK as the MrP version was just too olive for me.

On my A20 point mule I have painted MRP paints Midori iro and Ao Midori iro on the left and AK paints on the right.

Then the chipping started. Again, after staring at the photos of the plane for a while, I realized that the base layer was heavily chipped due to the elements and it being painted over bare metal without primer. Before I painted the camo I sprayed a heavy layer of hairspray to make chipping easier. What I did neglect doing was black basing under the top layer, but I reasoned that I could weather the top with post shading and oils to get those tones

The original plane carried two fuselage stripes, the aft one was the theatre stripe but I do not know the purpose of the fore one, most likely it was for a flight leader. I masked off the bands and decided to hand paint them to make them look hand painted. This was trickier than I thought because I didn’t want it to look like a child did it. I also painted the tail marking ‘Wa’ this way.

I forgot to add that prior to the panel liner I sprayed a highly diluted coat of Mr Color c129 Nakajima dark green to get some tones.

I have a bit of weathering left in the upper surfaces as well as exhaust staining and then I can move on to the undersides

Great work on the camo, Woody (@wkubacki). It looks really nice, and your exercise to compare colors was well worth the effort.

My least favourite part of the build, landing gear and canopy. Only a few more nights to go for the show.

Thanks guys, I'm really happy with how this is turning out. I have plans to build some more PNG Oscars as they have some very interesting camouflage and markings.
