This will be my next kit for the ever so popular Empire of Japan Group. My fifth build i think. Not sure if I'm going to tackle a BMF like whats on the box or do a painted scheme. Should be fun regardless. Until then. cheers

I hope you have fewer problems with Hayabusa than I do 🙂

    Jeremy, @jmillan
This is a nice model and I am looking forward to watching it come together. Have you decided on the paint scheme yet ?

Wow, this is amazing, my friend @jmillan!
Looking forward to your chosen scheme...
...and, might I say, the boxart one looks spectacular!

Hate to break it to you, but the foundation of every Oscar paint scheme is a bare metal finish (shadenfreude, ? haha). The plane in the box art would be cool, but I’m also partial to any plane based in New Guinea

Started on the Oscar last night since I finished my spitfire. The cockpit has some pretty nice interior detail. I added some stretched sprue for the rudder control cables. That was a test of patience trying to glues those tiny things on. I also got the cowl flaps glued on, went on pretty straight. I noticed the seat pan is a lil chunky compared to the original one. Might try to slim it down or make a new one out styrene sheet or a coke can will see. I think I’m going to add to some wires to the floor to busy it up as well. Until then.

That's a great start, my friend @jmillan! Love those cables!
The seat indeed is on the fatter side, compared to reality. You might very well "leave as is", or you might thin it. Its general shape is good, though.
Eagerly waiting to see your Oscar moving along!

Thanks Spiros I slimmed the seat down a bit but it’s hard to tell in the photos.

I got all the interior parts painted, weathered and flat coated just need to add seatbelts and a lil bit of dirt on the floor board. I Dry brushed the IP with white enamel paint I think it looks better then the decal. I’m Pretty happy how its looking so far but once it’s closed up you’ll probably not see much of the details. Also I goofed on the seat I think it should have been silver.

Some better pics glued together. An after market seat would of really made the CP look better I think

Yep, the cockpit looks wonderful, my friend @jmillan!
The seat looks great: I would keep it and wouldn't go aftermarket. As for its color, it might have been silver, but it might have very well been as you painted it (I have "seen" both). Such was also the case with my Toryu seat (and, I believe with many Japanese planes of that era).
    Looking forward to your progress!

@jmillan Great cockpit. My Ki-43 cockpit looks microcosmic.

I screwed up big time on this one. I realized after I glued the wings on I forgot the install the cockpit.
