Always great to get to that stage of the build. I just got some great advise on using tamiya acrylic paints, so I may migrate to using them if a japanese item shows up on my bench 🙂

used masks from Montex for the D4Y2-S, that´s the nightfighter, found out that there the front and rear canopy parts are different, so some "manual" masking necessary

Those masks really paid off, Reinhard. Even with some extra manual masking, you ended with a Great looking canopy!

mounted the two canopy parts to cover the open cockpit when painting, gonna mask the canopy now with kabuchi tape, the original Montex vinyl mask isn´t ideal to keep it longer on the clear parts because the vinyl likes to pop up on the area of the mask edges

Agree with Erik @airbum. Yellow is a difficult color and I can see a splendid result!

Great progress - I like the expensive high-tec support structure used! I have to get one of these cardboardboxes too! (seen before I believe, but after breaking a gearleg on one of my builds I only paid proper attention to it now)

Yes, they are quite practical, have a bunch of them in different sizes.

    Looks great, Reinhard!
I also love all those "tools"made from simple things, like your cardboard supports.

camo masks removed, first time a Tamiya paint came off with the masking tape, won´t repaint these areas, give the model a worn look
