Standing on it's own feet ... This is a very big step towards completion. Looking better all the time, and it looked great before !

as mentioned, the decals weren´t good
now, although sealed with clear coat they partially, especially the outer regions, popped up again.
removing the elevated parts, doing repainting and gonna use new Hinomarus from another Hasegawa Kate kit

repainting around the decals done, gloss coated and ready for new decals

the decals from the other Kate kit worked way better than the original ones, Hinomarus for the wings were a bit larger, so no problem, the ones for the fuselage were a bit smaller, so doing some touch ups with paint

Nice save. I have kept extra Hinomaru's for such an occasion should that occur. And lot's of patience especially at this point of the build when your at the finish line. Well done!

This has definitely caught my attention...and I agree that is an odd bomb arrangement... Is there an offset bomb load for the other side ?

Your Dad's Val is looking fantastic. Nice save with the decals. I have had my share of decal problems... and it can either make or break a model. Looking good !

no bombs for the other side...must have been a challenge during take-off

    Reinhard, @grimreaper
Probably so... and I'll bet it took a lot of trim to adjust it for level flight. Thanks for posting these updates with your Dad's models. He really does some great work, and you take some fantastic pictures. You two are a great pair working together.
