I'm working on Val right now. Here is a photo report. Work is progressing. Kit is old Fujimi. I Have to use new decals set (Print Scale), but I 'm making EI-235 from photo, by cuting two decals with plane number.

Wow, what a great entry, @lis!
and you've done a wonderful job so far!
I like so much seing "vintage" kits brought to life, let alone in such a great manner!
Painting is great; I especially liked the painted rear white lines.
    Looking forward to your progress!

Thank you for the kind word. I forgot attached photo of the box. Kit cost me 24$ on local auction site. It seemed quite expensive for an old model, but it turns out that models on ebay cost even $ 40-70!

Looks really good. I’ve always liked that kit. It was way ahead of it’s time.

Fujimi has very good shape of parts. Especially main gear. CH looks very weak in this field. of course, there are also weaknesses of Fujimi, but considering the years of its foundation - acceptable. Photo after sme wash, and weathering master set from Tamiya. I tried to draw the appearance of the canvas-covered ailerons and other small details.

Looks fantastic Lis! Great masking and paint.
I have built the Fujimi D4Y and B7A 1/72 kits and they were enjoyable builds.

The model dries and waits for the final clear coat to be covered. I am thinking of an X-22 gloss or an X-35 semi-gloss. I attached photo of original plane from Shokaku. I used some of the inscriptions and technical markings from the CtA no 11 decal set. But I'm not entirely satisfied with them, because, even when covered with clear varnish, they shine slightly. Print Scale decals were surprisingly good. On a scale of 1 to 5, I'd give them 4.5 points. Decals CtA up to 3,5-4 points.

As requested, here are my 1/72 Fujimi's. Posted in my Blog as part of the E-of-J GB. Kit decals used for both models.

They look beautiful! What paints did you use? Did you use gloss or semi-gloss clear coat? Decals was from the box?

I think I paid around $25 more than a year ago from either Hobby Link Japan or Banzai Hobby, which is reasonable. But yes, Fujimi kits from the same era are pretty hard to find now...I paid more than $40 from HLJ for the Hobby 2000's reboxed-from-Fujimi 1/72 Douglas A-4M (which comes with paint masks for canopy & windscreen), and I consider that expensive.

Regarding my message above: Tamiya Acrylics all around.
Tamiya XF-11 & XF-12 for the main colours.
Pledge Floor Gloss before decal application
MicroScale Micro Satin as a final coat

Sorry to be a bit late to this party; Your pictures shows great progress so far, and I were very happy to see some GasPatch AM parts are going in the build - he makes some very amazing things, and his kits are simply stunning. Looking forward to your next post @lis.
