Hi @brithebuilder, maybe the appearance of the door panels will be improved when the main body is fitted outside of them, presumably you’re going to paint the inside of it black. Just a thought.

A pity that most of the dashboard will not be seen, Brian @brithebuilder

Door panels 'improved'... not necessarily accurate, but it's better.
I have also started prepping the body for paint. I'm going to use the circles and numbers from the decals, but not the orange stripe, so not the dark blue pinstripe either. The pinstripe scares me.

So much more sanding than I would have believed. I had to add putty one more time to the tail section and I ended up filling a couple small divots in the gas cap plug using medium thick CA. I had initially used a blob of sprue goo on the gas cap plug and I think it was the wrong way to go. The sprue goo inside was good. I should have been patient, let that all set up and then used basic putty to fill in any remaining gaps. Funny how a lack of patience can make things take longer. LOL

Regardless, it's smooth now, I can't feel anything as I run a fingernail over the surface. Amazing how we can feel things we can't see.

    Time for primer...

Body is taped internally to be able to paint it as a unit and then separate it for install onto the chassis. I started with a grey primer and then did a little more sanding as well as removing surface details that will be replaced with PE. I have applied the first coat of white primer and I can't see any imperfections. I'm sure there's at least one that won't be visible until the project is finished. One more white coat should be all it needs... even if there's a slight speckle left. Wet sanding with 3000 should minimize any orange peel after primer... Then I think I need to figure out exactly what the LEDs are doing so I can get all of the prepped before final paint.

First coat of light blue... well Tamiya TS-41 Coral blue... it's a no. I need to find a better light blue color. Close is fine, but this is too far off for me.

So, TS-23 Light Blue is not all that light...

Though the above shades look really charming, I understand that you wish to go for the accurate shade of the distinctive light blue GT40 shade, my friend @brithebuilder. Looking forward to your rendition!
