Hi @anthonyricco, @fiveten, @johnb, @bikequeen. After seeing my friend Anthony Ricco’s Alpha Model Ferrari kit I decided to take the plunge and try one of these new fangled resin kits.

I’ve always loved Porsche 911s and chose this one. Alpha Model and Kitbox & PZY are two separate companies operating in China making high end (expensive) models of 1/24 road cars and 1/20 F1 cars. I paid about £100 for this kit. I believe you need to personally import these models if you are outside China, so shipping costs and import duty/tax should be allowed for.

Anyway, I’ve unpacked the kit and here’s what the main body parts look like:

Hi everyone, @johnb, @fiveten, @bikequeen, @anthonyricco, @garybrantley, thanks for looking and commenting. More work on the wheels:

They’ve been painted (can anyone guess what shade of green this is?), hub markings added. I couldn’t handled the valves included in the kit and after the first one disappeared in my tweezer catapault I made my own from household pins, a little over scale perhaps, but I can live with that.

While the green spray can was out I painted the roll cage as well:

Now to add an elephant to the room. There are no suspension details in the kit, this is kind of acceptable as with the wheels fixed you wouldn’t be able to see them anyway. But, the tyres are beautifully moulded replicas of Michelin Cups, unfortunately the front wheels are not steerable and the tyres are hardly seen:

By the way the roll cage is just resting in place, it hasn’t been Bob Smith’d yet.
