Hi everybody, with my resin Porsche 911 GT3 currently in the garage of doom, awaiting a new year resolution, I thought I would add to my Lamborghini collection with this Fujimi kit of the Gallardo.

The kit is over 20 years old and has been reissued a number of times. Mine is moulded in white. I’ve started work on the body by highlighting the mould lines that need smoothing off.

And deepening the panel lines a little.

Followed by sanding it all over using my trusty Tamiya sanding sponges in preparation for the first coat of white primer.

That’s it for now, plenty more to come, happy modelling.

Great start on a nice car, George! 👍 I recall visiting the Lamborghini dealer in Dallas with my son, Carson, when these first came out. They had two in their showroom, and they were around $170,000 at that point. As we were leaving the place, we peered through the garage windows at several exotics inside the garage. I remember Carson saying how cool it would be to work there. I corrected him by saying it was a greater aspiration to own one of the cars the mechanics worked on! Much cooler. 😉 😄

    Great entry, George @chinesegeorge
Good start already. I like the idea to deepen the panel lines.

Hi Gary @garybrantley, I, too, was very taken by the Gallardo when it was first released, so much so that I worked out a finance deal. Unfortunately my wife at the time wouldn’t agree to it for two reasons. First, she wasn’t very keen on selling some of her vital organs. Second, the insurance quote insisted that the car was garaged, and a Gallardo was too wide to fit into our garage, oh well…….

Hi Spiros @fiveten and @johnb. With the body in the paint shop it gives me some time to start on the brakes, wheels, suspension and steering.

The wheels come nicely chrome plated and just need the tyres to be slipped on. The brake discs need to be painted silver and the calipers black, with the Lamborghini logo added.

A little black panel liner was added to the discs and I sanded the tyres to get rid of the brand new look.

It’s easy to make a mistake when removing the front uprights, parts E5 and E6 from the sprue.

There are pivots top and bottom that enable the wheels to steer. Unfortunately the pivots appear to be part of the sprue feed and I mistakenly cut one of them off. To fix it I drilled out a hole and super-glued part of a household pin in its place. The pin was a little too thin so I slipped a short length of vinyl tube over the pin which did the trick.

The rest of the first page of instructions went smoothly enough.

And now she looks like this:

Lots more to come, merry Christmas and happy modelling.

Hi Spiros @fiveten, @johnb, @eb801, @garybrantley, thanks for taking the time to look and commenting. Now on to the interior. First the dashboard and steering wheel.

Sprayed in good old semi gloss black and a little bit of dry brushing in silver, and water slide transfers (decals) for the instruments. I found a logo for the steering wheel in my spares box.

The centre console with the gear lever and hand brake are added.

Then the seats and door cards to complete it are fitted.

I tried adding some brown panel liner to the seams in the seats but it doesn’t show up very well.

That’s it for now, thanks for looking, happy modelling, and here’s to 2025.

Good morning, gentlemen, @eb801, @garybrantley, @fiveten, @johnb. The outside temperature is currently minus 20C, so I’m staying inside and feeling grateful for our efficient underfloor heating. Today’s work concerns the engine bay.

Not too much to do, just painting most things black, with some silver detail.

    And adding the hinged lid.

The whole assembly will be inserted into the body shell and held in place by two self tapping screws, but that’s for later.

Thanks, as always, for taking the time to look, and happy modelling.

Good progress and great looks so far, my friend @chinesegeorge! Minus 20°C is too low, what better than staying in with efficient floor heating and model!
