Hasagawa 1/48 Canadair Sabre Mk5 "Frecce Tricolori" with a twist
So what do you do when you get two really cool sets of markings and only one model? Split the schemes! Blue side is 1963, and the black side is 1961. I painted the tricolour lower wing, but all the other markings are from the kit decal set. I mounted the model on a piece of curved acrylic rod to hold it 'in flight' over an octagonal mirror to show off the painted under side. Enjoy.
A good idea and a nice presentation!

George... I like that idea.
Good Idea. I've been toying with the idea of mounting the two fuselage halves of a kit on a picture frame, include a bit of wing and then do them in different schemes. Canopy would most likely be difficult, but still...
@thlund
IIRC, one of our members @rickard-malmborg has done this kind of thing before, producing a very nice 3-d aircraft "profiles" in 1/48 scale. Don't know how he solved the canopy, but the whole thing looked very good indeed.
Yeah - I know it's been done before. Not like I say I invented it 🙂
