Attack of the 109s, Pt. 2: Galland's Bf-109E-4 (Eduard 1/32)
In 1984 I had the privilege of attending the annual convention of the American Fighter Aces Association. Among the attendees were Adolf Galland, Gunther Rall (at the time the commander of the West German Air Force, though he seemed just another interesting guy at the bar, something you would never experience with a senior American general) and Walter Krupinski. Having these three drink me under the table (and they did! Never drink beer with a German no matter his age!) while listening to their stories was definitely one of the high points of my career as an aviation historian.
(In case you were interested, all three of these gentlemen were the kind of guy you did not have to be facing the door to know they had entered the room.)
Eduard's Bf-109 kit with the Squadron canopy to replace the incorrect canopy, and Techmod decals for Galland's Bf-109E-4, fall/winter 1940.
Superb Tom. All these Me109 articles are making me think about the four i've got in the pending pile!
