A different kind of Spitfire......... Cindi's Drag Car!

September 1, 2015 · in Uncategorized · · 15 · 1.3K

A few posts back I posted my build of the USS Midway. This was done for Cindi's father who served on her. Cindi and her husband Kenny are drag racers. And they both drive this Chevy.

A few notes about the paint on this race car. It has a one piece fiberglass tilt hood. The headlights are real and function. The light surrounds and grill are Painted! You have to get within a few feet to realize the mastery of the painter who did this awesome work.

Also on the rear quarter panel when they do a burnout the comes to life with the white tire smoke pouring out. Cindi has burned up the quarter mile at 160MPH!

The last photo is the car she bought for Kenny. Now you are probably saying to yourself,(look at the rich folks). But I have to tell you these things come about after a life of hard work. Ken and Cindi did all of the building and do their own race prep. She said she would let me drive it. But I am having some reserve. Maybe the Dodge through the local drive through.

I hope you enjoy the photos.

  1. Steve I've had the challenger up to 140. You can drive it though.

  2. Get out of town! That's it, I'm telling Kenny. I say a drag race is in order here. For pink slips!. If you win, you keep the cars.
If I win, ...You keep the cars.. After all?
    Take care,
    Steve

  3. Maple Grove Raceway...? That's in Pennsylvania isn't it..? Long way from California. I'll take a [somewhat] educated guess on the car - '66-'67 Nova?
I'm also guessin' it's a small block (350) that runs Gas or Super Stock..? How 'bout a little background, Cindi..?
Steve - I first thought we were gonna see a MODEL that you did for them. Is that maybe in the future? And if it IS, good luck with that paint job (I doubt you'll find a decal like it). 🙁

  4. Hey Craig I would have to be a Michelangelo to dupe this paint job.
I am thinking the bird catcher is the front of the car at 160MPH
    Though I could be wrong.
